Baskieta basket, a woven basket from Suriname. An extra large basket in which you can put fruit and vegetables if desired. Of course it can also be used for many other things. This basket is handmade by the Indians from the Surinamese Amazon.

Warimbo is a herbaceous plant with broad, oval leaves. The Indians cut thin strips from the stem, which can be meters long, which they use for weaving baskets, for example. It is mainly utensils - baskets, presses, sieves - that are woven; yet much attention is paid to the braiding patterns.
