Nice quality Baskieta basket of woven light brown Warimbo with lid with eye and colored edge. The natural color brown gives this round basket a classic look. The colored border on both the basket and the lid in yellow, blue, white and red gives the basket a modern accent.

This Baskieta basket is a woven basket from Suriname with a lid and can be used, among other things, as a storage basket for loose items. This basket is handmade by the Indians from the Surinamese Amazon.

Warimbo is a herbaceous plant with broad, oval leaves. The Indians cut thin strips from the stem, which can be meters long, which they use for weaving baskets, for example. It is mainly utensils - baskets, presses, sieves - that are woven; yet much attention is paid to the braiding patterns.
