Salad cuterly, wooden fork and spoon

A salad cutlery is a set consisting of a spoon and a (often stylized) fork, used for salad.

This cutlery is first used to mix the oil and vinegar (dressing), or other salad dressing, through the lettuce, and then to scoop it up. Because there is actually no distinction between the spoon and the fork in use, in modern designs of the salad servers the "fork" is sometimes difficult or impossible to distinguish from a spoon.

When scooping, it is customary to keep the spoon under. That way the dressing can be scooped up.
